FIERA DI A BOCCA DI U PRATU

Between the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August to the collar of Prato bocca di U pratu, the fair of the collar of Prato. With nearly 1000 meters of altitude you will make knowledge with the stockbreeders and their herds.
You will be able to taste varied Corsican receipts and to get various products resulting from the gastronomy to you or local arts and crafts (cheese, honey, pastry making).

According to years', the fair is punctuated :
- ovine contests of breeding (rams of Corsican race) and caprine (goats)
- of presentation of bulls and reproductive of pure race (the Limousin, Aubrac, Gascon…)
- of an equestrian test of endurance, of a great pedestrian race (bocca di U Prato-San Pedrone outward journey return, 9 km out of 780 meters of made uneven, the record is 45 minutes !)
- plays for the children,
- of tasting and Corsican sale of calf
- of a spectacle of bullfighting
- authors and novelists discussing and dedicating their works,
- cultural evenings (poetry and songs) gathering the Corsican authors and / or musical groups most known…
- sung mass with San Petru d' Accia (procession and bénediction of the animals on the fairground)
- and of the inevitable contest of bowls appreciated, disputed and equipped with many prices !

- During all of summer, Castagniccia is in festival. The village festivities are numerous and are often accompanied by contest of balls. The employers' festival of Quercitellu with place on August 11.

In La Porta of Ampugnani

Days of Hunting, Fishing and Nature Ghjurnate di has Caccia, Pesca E Natura during the first fortnight of June . Days organized by association U Bell-tower.

The fair offers, according to years', a varied program:laser shooting-trap, Paint ball, shooting with the arc, workshops for children, demonstration of dogs of obedience and defense, demonstration of raising of horses, shoeing marshal, equestrian excursions, walks in the barouche, initiation fly with horse, contest of dogs of farm to wild boar, debate, pointers on hunting, procession of gun dogs, demonstration/initiation of fishing to the fly, "Mostra" of Corsican dogs, mass of Pentecost, cultural evening.

Rise of the Mount St Petrone, mass celebrated at the top of the mountain.

In Piedicroce

Middle of March. Procession and granitola (procession symbolic system describing a spiral which is rolled up and proceeds) in the villages of Orezza - Ampugnani.

In April, in Piedicroce and San Gavinu d' Ampugnani, "Merendela in Castagniccia" (to lunch on grass). Tel. 04 95 35 81 86 Faxes 04 95 32 84 40. This demonstration takes again the tradition of the first family external meetings for the Easter Monday. Activities of leisures (VTT, fishing in river…) supplement this exit agreeably.

In Orezza

Ferruginous, bicarbonated and gas Sources

The Sources of Orezza are before Stazzona). The Museum of the A.D.E.C.E.C.

The museum of the A.D.E.C.E.C.(Association for the Development of Center-Is of Corsica) is located at the old seminar of évèques of Aléria, built by Saint Alexandre Sauli behind the bedside of the cathedral. It takes you along to the meeting of the life of the Corsicans like formerly. 14 permanent showrooms the museum also recalls that Cervione was chosen by Theodore de Neuhof like capital to install its court in 1736 there.

Ground floor : reconstitution of a workshop of forging mill, presentation of equipment of wine making, pharmacy and collections of rocks of Corsica

1st stage : technique of construction of the houses, many agricultural tools classified by activities (ploughing, sweet chestnuts, work of the vine) ; rural life, reconstitution of a "fucone", spinning and weaving.

2nd stage : room Saint Alexandre (religious art, objects having belonged to the bishops of Cervione) ; room Domenico Ascione (Marinoni printing works) ; swing-ploughs, the joinery and a portrait of Theodore de Neuhoff by Hector Filippi.
